Chin Up

After so much hesitation whether to go back to hometown during year end or not, finally I decided to go back. And it’s only for a weekend?!!

We’re blessed with opportunity to have two paid return ticket to hometown annually.  Hence my initial plan was to utilize them during expensive ticket period-which is year end and end of cold season.

Actually I already apply for year end long leave, and my boss don’t approve it, in the sense that there’ll be on-going operation at that time. I have my bitter spot for this operation cos I always been left out/points not taken/people always forget that I’m part of the team. In short, cos i’m a LADY. Sigh. For people who know me very well, they’ll know that I’m someone who will be all out for jobs assigned to me. So what’s the point of me sacrificing my holiday (which I plan to spend with my family in my hometown) when people don’t really value me, right?  Again, I’m not the main engineer for this campaign. Logically the main engineer should be in town through out the operation, but he actually out of town every other week. I’ve had my fair share staying alone in the office while everyone go for holiday, and it’s a national public holiday where all the shops are shutdown and I’ve to survive on my own. Besides, for my previous jobs also there are times that I’ve been working during festivals-practically I’m ok with it. Cos the spirit of owning the job is there.

But for this campaign..I decided that’s enough for me to always be a ‘sacrificial anode’. If other engineers in charge can take long holiday while the operation is on-going what more during critical time (just because they have ‘family’) why should I be very nice all the time then?

Like I told my confidante, the main engineer should Man-Up more for this job as this is his first and main job. The job was supposed to start in October, and got delay, delay and delay till Dec 2016.  Earlier, the job was named as Job Oct 2016. When the first delay happened, the name was change to Job Nov 2016, and delay again..I decide to change it to Job Q4 2016, else it’ll look bad on the team. Ape ni kan, job Oct jadi Dec dan 80% of the jobs will be in Jan 2017. 2017 tuu. Some people will say, “normal la tu operation got delay” “biase laa job postpone”, etc; but to management this just show how bad your planning is. People don’t care what story you have about it. This is undelivered promise.

Back to the main story which at last I’m going back for a weekend to tanah air (see, it’s not even my hometown I’m going back). Based on the outlook, the real job will only start on 28 Dec, 29th is a public holiday here (and that’s when the critical operation is on-going and u know who know that she has to work during the public holiday anyway) and 30th will be working day and definitely I’m in the office. So, thinking back, I decided that I need to meet my boss and request back permission to be away from town during the weekend. I’m lucky enough that all of my family will be in Centre during my weekend trip, so I can meet ‘em all.

I met my boss, and I thought since I’m applying for weekend trip only, he’ll approve it easily. But no. He looked back at the people movement table and said “no one in town at that time”. I was like, “it’s weekend anyway and based on the outlook, we already pass the critical stage that time”. “How bout the other engineer? I think he’s away that weekend to meet his family”. Me : “I don’t know about him”. And my boss calls the other engineer and confirms he’ll be away for that weekend. Duhh. I told them then and then, this is only weekend trip and compared to the main engineer, this will be my trip to hometown after aeons months and in fact I don’t even take leave for it. I’ll be in the office on the next working day. Else, I’ve to utlize my ticket in Jan 2017 where we’ll be busier that time and my main job will commence that time. At last, the request was approve. Wadehel sangat. Bukan watak utama tapi macam watak utama.

So ladies out there, jangan biar orang senang ambil kesempatan di atas kebaikan kita :D Lagi-lagi single ladies, orang ingat kita tak de family yokk.

P/S: It’s nearly 2017 and people still associate ‘family’ as wife and children; hence single people don’t have family.  Duhh, family also means parents and siblings.

Will I see u again?

At this age, I don’t have many close friends.

So when a friend repeatedly ask me when will I return and want to meet for coffee sesh, it’s like dejavu.

Scary.

This is like how my brother repeatedly ask when will I return home, and I kept on delaying due to ‘work commitment’ and the next time I return, he’s already in a better place.

And till today, I still regret everything. People said it’s fate, but part of me still can’t accept it.

I hope I’ll be able to meet my friend soon.

ACD

Kenapa bila kena membaca untuk ACD, mengantuk dia macam dah berapa hari tak tido.

Tapi bila baca benda2 yang tak de kaitan macam buku cerita, melancong dan sejarah ..tak mengantuk langsung. Lagi bertambah-tambah pula bahan bacaan.

Note to self : Please, for one more time, buat sehabis baik. If not u, who else?

Tailor

One of my bucket lists when I move to Myanmar was to seriously learn sewing.

Jahit sembat, jahit butang baju, jahit jelujur x dikira.

Seriously means till I can sew my own clothes..until.. When I arrive here and find out that tailoring here is very cheap (kat Malaysia beli baju siap aje) :D

So, bucket list is still a bucket list, but we got to leverage on the cheap tailoring here, right? . .

The other day, just before Aidilfitri, I went to Bogyoke to alter one of my jubah since I don’t have time to shop for new cloth.

There’s plenty of tailor at 2nd floor of Bogyoke. Just pick one to alter the jubah, as simple as that. Only I realized, dekat signage masing2 rupanya ade yang tersurat. Pandang betul2 dan boleh decipher d code. Ala Da Vinci Code. I accidentally know about this cos when I drop by to one of the tailor, she actually shows me to another tailor. Ok, I thought cos she’ s busy and cannot entertain me. So, I go to the tailor that she showed me. Turn out to be that tailor also will be celebrating Aidilfitri too (read between the lines, pls) :).

Long story short, jubah was altered, and I’m one happy girl cos baju raya settle.

Last weekend, I had plenty of time and nowhere to check out. Biasalah, bila takde tempat nk pegi, Bogyoke lah last resort. Ala2 pakej pegi Jakel dan tukang jahit sekali. Dah habis cari kain, pergi lah drop by kt tailor Raya haritu.

Makcik tu punya la excited, “Malaysia! Malaysia! U still remember me?”

“Of course”.

“I 1 month in Malaysia. U know KLCC? My sister in Balakong bring me KLCC” sambil flip open handphone and tunjuk gambar.

“Is it nice Kuala Lumpur? What do u do 1 month in Kuala Lumpur?”

“Me visit my sister. She tailor like me. RapidKL very good. Where u qurbani?”

“Here, I did Qurban in Myanmar”

“Ahh, Malaysia very good. We Qurbani in Malaysia”

Makcik ni sangat excited cerita pasal Malaysia, and she’s not the first one that tell good things about Malaysia.

And yes, Malaysia memang best.

Memang rezeki makcik ni untuk jahit tepi tudung n 2 blouse. Makcik ni tak pakai tudung tapi dia pun tau tudung bawal Malaysia -_-. Kalau jahitan dia kemas, lepas ni boleh hantar baju lagi :D

Bila nak serious belajar menjahit ni? tsk.

Mandalay

Unplanned trips are the best.

Since i’m bogged down by Yangon weather-rain all the time (and it’s not attractive to go out during rain)...so I unconsciously bought a ticket to Mandalay.

Unconciously, why? Hehe

I was tired and half-asleep completing my online course, when I pm-ed the bus company FB to buy the ticket. When I woke up in the morning, OMG, I did PM for the ticket! Being smart enough, I deleted the message from my FB.

Indecisive attack.

I thought by deleting the messages, the same will happen to the receiver, the messages will be deleted to0..Wrong ><

That morning, I need to attend a workshop. There u go, while having break, I received confirmation on the bus tickets. Taraa~

It’s not nice to cancel it at the very last minute, right? So, then and then I agoda-ed a hotel. The elcheapo me obviously book the cheapest and the closest to the bus station (I think) hotel.

Ape lagi-kita redah je la.

Enjoy the photo. Will continue blogging when I have enough of vitamin R :)

Just another day

Lazy day hit me again -_-

Oil Craze

I don't get this essential oil craze.

And I thought, I'm alone.

But, when I Googled, the same question had been posted 1 year ago in US.
As for "why oils," I think the idea of home-based health care without having to rely on or pay for doctors has huge appeal for naturally-minded families trying to get by on less money in order to have more quality intangibles like intimacy, family time, community, etc. There are a lot of things for which they're great. A little eucalyptus or peppermint diffused in the air can really soothe a cough. Lavender does help you relax. Clove oil will numb mouth irritations. You can do a lot of good simple first aid with oils. That said, a lot of self-styled "wellness consultants" who've just paid for their kit and set themselves up as experts will have you eating and applying large amounts of lots of different oils for every malady real and imagined with little knowledge of or concern for possible contraindications or bad reactions that could occur. Essential oils are potent, and can easily be overdone.

Beng kek

So the boss asked, "Are u satisfied with the result?"

I had been tasked to revive this high WC well. Instructions given and result obtained. But the well sluggishly flow without gas yet.

Yes..yet. Cos I'm positive like that :)

Not known to all, there's separate email with instructions subsequent to that, which i don't cc all. I dislike spamming others' mailbox. I'm hoping that the next step will prove success.

Hah, back to boss' question above. Bengkek kot kena tanya cmtu. Actually I overheard him asking another colleague (yg bukan buat keje ni) bout what happen to the well. Why don't he ask me first? Mcm ade trust issue plak kan.

But yeah, I always tell myself, be professional, don't be sensitive much. Kerja dalam bidang ni, hati kena kental (flex muscle :))

Guts

Kenapa susah sangat nak buat keputusan ni?

Sleep

I think I'm experiencing sleep disorder now.

It's either I stay awake till morning, and then it's time to work.

Or

I just feel I wanna sleep in the evening. Lepas Asar. Which is not good.

Too much caffeine? Jet-lagged hence the long overdue body clock adjustment ? Time for another vacay? Hee.

Melayu ka?

Bila duduk di Myanmar ni, jangan terkejut kalau tiba-tiba ada stranger tegur “Melayu ka?”. Dan terus borak sakan macam dah kenal lama.

Yeah, that’s Myanmar-Malaysia Hospitality.

Hu hu

Tolak tepi berita buruk dan tak elok yang biasa kita dengar, bila orang berbudi kita berbahasa. Prejudis tu kena letak tepi, dok?

There's always a first time

Tak pernah2 one womanshow sediakan makanan raya, today is the day.

Sebab hari esok Hari Raya Aidiladha dekat sini. Maka, takkan la datang tangan kosong kan?

Being a dessert person, I was like, "Uish, takkan pagi raya makan dessert kot". Koman2, kena makan something heavy.

Semoga sedaplah esok.

P/s : kena masak malam ni sebab esok 6.15am dah kena bertolak pegi Embassy. So,esok reheat aje.

Kebanyakan pemerhatian diatas dibuat berdasarkan pengalaman gue.

Olympic 2016

Such a great appreciation by Singapore government when they actually invite Joseph Schooling n parents to the parliament.

The appreciation speeches just beyond beautiful.

Lifetime of discipline, courage and support. I salute the parent's support and determination too.

This Olympic certainly is a remarkable one. Inspiring moments, limitless, borderless.

I hope same recognition will be given to our Malaysian athletes too. Azizulhasni, LCW, the duo in badminton and diving. Powerlah korang. Who can devote their whole life to sports huh?

Amazing people

Came across this while browsing thru FB just now:

"There is no such thing as a lazy person". -Redhuan D. Oon

Man! I agree with your written status. Exactly what I was thinking about my life the other day. I think I have less challenge nowadays which led me to be lazy or complacent enough. Or shall I say, my life has become routine till the point that I know, if I don't do it today, I still can do it tomorrow. Not good. Not good. I hate myself when I became like this.

While on holiday, I met a guy who fascinate me with his determination. He has a day job. During that time, he's managing/overseeing 3 projects. But,he still have time to handle food truck at night and do some catering during weekend. When asked, "I do this for fun. I need more challenge". And I need to stop complaining and all the unintentional mengeluh.

Awesome

Minggu ni awesome.

Why so?

Rainingrabu – 10/8/2016
It’s been rainingrabu, where in Malaysia it’s rimasrabu due to hot weather there.

Our perf job went well, early indication shows that we have high THP, means high BHP. Yeay! More gas, insyaAllah!

Send out the bean-up procedure and let’s pray more.

Tremendousthursday – 11/8/2016
Start to flow the well. Guys offshore told smaller choke already produce lot of gas, still small drawdown. Gooood~!

Bean-up as per program. Facility can’t hold the gas, bean-down again. Test well.

Alhamdulillah, the well produces beyond our expectation.
New hope, light at the end of tunnel.

Shared the news with my former teammates. Have a long thought about this. To share or not [go figure]. Alas, decide to share the good news with them.

Fabulousfriday -12/8/2016
Obtained official result of the well. Good news to everybody.

Decide to have strong black coffee for celebration.
