Bahasa Jiwa Bangsa

I had this habit of saying Hi/Mingalarbar to strangers in my apartment’s lift..until..
.
Yesterday.
 .
There’s this young lady who looks lost.  Seem that she just work as masseur in the Spa downstairs.
Since I’m the closest to the lift button, I say Mingalarbar and asked which floor she’s going.
Five ..five, she said.
.
And then she start to make conversations..I’m OK with that except she speak Burmese with me. Adeh. She thought I can speak Burmese..Rasakan! Ramah tamah sangat.
.
I told her-Burmese ne ne, means Burmese sikit-sikit. She smiled and ting!, we reached 5th floor.
.
Lega.😅
Hahaha
.
The point is, I just have that Astaghfirullah moment. I should put extra effort in learning Burmese kan? But, I always put it aside and brace the world with my limited language ability.
.
Yeah, I survived!
.
Thanks to bahasa ayam-itik and the flux of Burmese previously working in Malaysia and now they return home.  Whenever I encounter them, it’s like meeting your long lost friend or orang kampung. Yeah, they tend to speak in Bahasa and I can tell which part of Malaysia they previously work in and who their boss is 😆.

However, thinking forward, what if I got to travel, live or work in other places that have limited amount of English and Bahasa used?  Byelingual ;(. I hope I’m getting smart in learning languages and a little bit more hardworking.

..and I got almost similar experience recently when I performed my umrah, only in Arabic, French and Urdu.

Byelingual -_-
